E2NSCCG Nationwide Engagements Commenced

The nationwide E2NSCCG engagements have commenced today (15/05/23) at the Eastern Regional Headquarters Town in Kenema. These engagements will continue in the next few days in Bo, Makeni, and Port Loko, respectively. Over the years, the NSCCG has developed the practice of holding joint meetings with the decentralised security structures (PROSECs/DISECs/CHISECs) with a view to enhancing synergy within the security sector and addressing emerging and outstanding security issues.

The National Security Coordinator (NSCoord), Office of National Security, Mr. Abdulai Caulker, in his opening statement, briefed members about the purpose of the meeting and highlighted several security concerns that will be discussed during the course of the engagement. He raised the issues of drug abuse, misuse of social media, illegal mining activities negatively impacting the environment, cattle & farmer conflict, boundary disputes, unidentified corpses, the use of Marshals, etc. The MoS East co-chaired the meeting.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEC), Electoral Commission, Sierra Leone, Mr. Mohamed K. Konneh, briefed the E2NSCCG on all ECSL activities that have been undertaken, are currently being undertaken and the proposed ones. The CEC, therefore, gave clear timelines for all ECSL activities to keep stakeholders au-fait with all ECSL activities.
