CSO – SECURITY SECTOR DIALOGUE
Following the outcome of the recently concluded general elections, speculations of threats being directed against individuals and groups emerged via social media platforms. As a way of addressing these concerns, the need arose for a dialogue session between CSOs and the Security Sector. The dialogue is aimed at providing the platform for frank discussions and stock taking on lessons learnt during and after the elections. It is also the expectation that the dialogue will form effective pathways that will create a bond between Civil Society Organisations and the Security Sector.
The National Security Coordinator, Office of National Security, Mr. Abdulai Caulker made a statement on behalf of the Security Sector and supported by the Inspector Genenral of Police (IGP). Key highlights of the NSCoord’s statement include keeping, maintaining, and managing the peace, among others. The IGP outlined the mechanisms for reporting and investigating cybercrimes.
